Dear Editor-in Chief:

My name is Kayley Robinson. I am a sophomore at Early College High School in Conway, South Carolina.

I am writing to address how food stamps should be monitored. Food stamps should be monitored because of waste. Some people in the grocery stores will spend food stamp money on deserts more than healthy food. The deserts include candy, ice-cream, cake, and chips. Many people believe that people should receive more money for food stamps when they clearly waste it. I know a friend, who lives on food stamps. It is hard to say not to give her extra food stamp money, but I know she spends it on unhealthy 'junk.' She does not spend it on fruits and vegetables. Food stamp money comes out of the taxpayers’ pocket, our pocket, so why should we give more food stamp money to those who waste it?

Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate your help and hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Kayley Robinson
